Treatment Areas

Upper Body

Neck and Cheeks

Excess fat around the jaw and neck area can create submental fullness or a “double chin,” and too much fat in the cheeks can make even a thin person appear much heavier. Liposuction can restore a smoother contour to the neck and cheeks and improve facial definition.

The accumulation of fat in the upper arms can make a person feel self-conscious when wearing sleeveless or short-sleeved tops. Liposuction can remove excess arm fat to sculpt slender, fitter-looking arms.

Mid Body

Abdomen and Waist

The midsection is one of the most challenging areas from which to remove localized fat. Liposuction produces a slimmer waistline and flatter abdomen by eliminating fat that resists diet and exercise efforts.

Back and Flanks

Many men have extra fat on their backs and sides just above the waist, and women commonly have unwanted fat along their bra line. Liposuction can reduce back and flank fat to achieve a smoother surface and eliminate stubborn “love handles.”

Lower Body

Excess fat that accumulates in the buttocks can cause permanent sagging and a displeasing shape. Liposuction can create a firmer, rounder contour to the buttocks to improve the overall appearance and proportion.

Hips and Thighs

Fat deposits in the hips and thighs can cause unsightly “saddlebags” to develop, often resulting in discomfort and embarrassment. Liposuction can provide slimmer, sculpted upper legs to help make your body bikini-ready and boost your confidence.

Knees and Ankles

Excess fat accumulation in the lower legs can result in flabby knees and shapeless ankles, prompting many to hide their legs even during the warmer summer months. Liposuction can efficiently rid these areas of unwanted fat and create a more defined leg contour.

Liposuction Concerns

After liposuction, the treatment site(s) may be tender and swollen. Wearing a compression garment will be required during the first few weeks of recovery to promote healing and minimize swelling. Patients are advised to get up and take short walks as soon as possible to prevent blood clots, but strenuous activity must be avoided for four to six weeks.

Because the incisions created during liposuction are tiny, any resulting scarring is minimal. Incisions are placed in discreet areas that can be hidden by clothing, and scars are likely to fade over time.

The cost of your liposuction procedure depends on the number of areas treated, the technique used, and facility fees. During your liposuction consultation, Dr. Desvigne will provide you with an accurate cost estimate.

Liposuction patients are likely to experience some post-operative discomfort. Dr. Desvigne will prescribe medication for pain management as needed.

Liposuction Faqs

  • Am I a good candidate for liposuction?

Men and women who struggle with stubborn fat deposits that have been difficult to eliminate with diet and exercise may qualify for liposuction. Ideal candidates for liposuction are in good overall health, are close to their goal weight, and have no pre-existing health conditions. It is also essential to have realistic expectations of the procedure and to understand that liposuction is not a weight-loss solution.

  • How long will my liposuction results last?

Liposuction permanently removes fat cells. However, the remaining fat cells in the treated area(s) can still increase in size with weight gain. Maintaining a stable weight by adopting a healthy, active lifestyle after the procedure will preserve your results for longer.

  • Will liposuction improve the appearance of cellulite?

Although liposuction removes excess fat and usually provides the skin with a smoother appearance, it is not considered a viable treatment for cellulite.

  • Is liposuction covered by health insurance?

Health insurance providers do not typically cover the cost of liposuction because it is considered a cosmetic procedure.
