Nowadays there are many centers for wound healing. These centers may or may not be affiliated with a hospital, but they are designed to treat and manage patients with wounds.

As a wound physician who is also a surgeon, I believe some wounds are best addressed with surgery but some are not. The key is knowing which is best and under which circumstance. For some patients needing surgery, general anesthesia may be too risky because of the patient’s other medical conditions. For some patients, a surgical procedure under local anesthesia may heal a wound they have had to live with for many years. For some, a surgical procedure under general anesthesia and continued wound management in a wound clinic may also be required. No one wound or patient is the same. It is important to know all the options and consider all the solutions, but most important is to choose the best solution for each patient.

Wound Managements commonly performed for:

  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Venous stasis ulcers
  • Arterial ulcers or non-healing amputation sites
  • Pressure Ulcers
  • Traumatic wounds
  • Non-healing surgical wounds
